Approve a treatment before rendering

A treatment is the short written plan for the film: its premise, angle, opening, development and ending. Approve that structure before paying to render scenes, because a beautiful shot cannot repair an unclear argument.

Planning sequence: Audience, then Question, then Treatment, then Approval.

A practical method

  1. Ask for a logline and a scene-by-scene explanation of what changes.
  2. Read the ending first and check that the opening sets it up fairly.
  3. Return one consolidated list of changes, then approve the revised treatment and current cost.

An example brief to adapt

Written illustration of this method; not a report of a rendered film or a customer result.

Before making the film, give me a treatment for a 60-second story about a lost umbrella returning to its owner. Show the opening image, three turning points and the final image. Explain how the narrator connects them. Do not start a render until I approve the story and quote.

Review before moving on

  • Does the ending answer the opening?
  • Is every scene necessary?
  • Is the quoted product a film or an animatic?

Record a concrete observation beside each check: a line in the treatment, a source passage or a timestamp in the downloaded film. If you cannot inspect an item yet, leave it open. A request in a brief is an intention; the result is what must be reviewed.

What to avoid

Do not confuse agreeing with an idea with approving a charge. State explicitly whether the assistant may plan only or may also start production.
