Collect a client brief for a narrated film

A client brief should establish the message, audience, deliverables, approvals and supplied evidence. It is a production agreement in plain language, not a substitute for the client's factual or brand review.

Planning sequence: Audience, then Question, then Treatment, then Approval.

A practical method

  1. Ask the client to approve one objective and one call to action.
  2. List required assets and identify anything that needs a separate editor.
  3. Name the person who can approve the treatment and final export.

An example brief to adapt

Written illustration of this method; not a report of a rendered film or a customer result.

Prepare a treatment for a 45-second introductory film for a fictional bicycle repair service. Leave business claims and contact details as items for client approval. Use generated illustrative scenes, one English narrator and landscape framing. Flag any step requiring a logo or real interface to be added later.

Review before moving on

  • Who approves factual claims?
  • Are additional editing tasks assigned?
  • Is delivery distinct from publication?

Record a concrete observation beside each check: a line in the treatment, a source passage or a timestamp in the downloaded film. If you cannot inspect an item yet, leave it open. A request in a brief is an intention; the result is what must be reviewed.

What to avoid

Avoid promising an exact product likeness or authentic business footage when the workflow produces illustrative scenes. Establish that distinction before the client approves the concept.
