What is actually free?
The useful starting question is what you can finish without buying a Kleo credit pack. A new account receives 5 starter credits: one animatic of up to 20 seconds. An animatic is a narrated sequence of drawn frames with camera movement; it is not a film made from generated moving clips. During the launch, a code opens one film of up to 15 seconds before any pack.
Connecting Kleo and paying for an assistant are separate decisions. A compatible assistant may have its own plan, workspace permissions or usage limits. Check those before choosing a workflow.
| What you want | What the starting offer covers |
|---|---|
| Connect Kleo | Kleo does not charge a connection fee. Your assistant’s access conditions still apply. |
| Try one story preview | One animatic of up to 20 seconds at 5 credits, covered by the 5-credit starter balance. Up to 60 seconds costs 10. |
| Generate moving footage | A film requires a credit-pack purchase and enough eligible credits for its quoted length, or a launch code for one 15-second film. |
| Render another version | A separate accepted render has its own cost. The starter offer does not include unlimited retries. |
| Publish the result | Review, download and upload it yourself. Kleo does not post to your channel. |

Choose the first result you need
Choose an animatic when the next decision is about your story: whether the opening is understandable, whether the scene order makes sense, or whether the narration is clear. Choose a film when generated motion is essential to the deliverable. A preview can help you approve the story, but it cannot prove how a later motion clip will behave.
For a paid first film, the €5 pack contains 10 purchased credits, the cost of a 15-second film. A 30-second film costs 20 credits. Do not assume starter credits make up the difference: check the credits eligible for the film against the published Terms before buying or rendering.
Before you start
Is a free animatic the same as a free AI film?
No. Both are video files, but their pictures move differently. An animatic moves a camera over drawn frames; the film generates moving footage. Kleo’s starter credits cover the former, while the latter requires a pack purchase or, once and up to 15 seconds, a launch code.
Can I keep the result?
Download and save the MP4 within 7 days. Inspect it before publishing and read the Terms for the Kleo mark and permitted uses. A download link is temporary storage, not a permanent archive.
A practical method
- Decide whether an animatic meets your immediate goal.
- Read the current pricing and confirm the product shown in the quote.
- Use the starter credits for a deliberate story test rather than assuming every output type is included.
An example brief to adapt
Use Kleo to plan a 20-second animatic about a paper boat returning to its maker. Animation look, English narration, 9:16. Show me the treatment, confirm that the product is an animatic, and check the exact credit cost against my available balance. Ask me about any remaining options. Wait for my approval before rendering. Do not start a paid film or buy credits.
Review before moving on
- Is the product explicitly an animatic?
- Does the quoted cost fit the balance?
- Are paid requirements explained before an upgrade?
Record a concrete observation beside each check: a line in the treatment, a source passage or a timestamp in the downloaded film. If you cannot inspect an item yet, leave it open. A request in a brief is an intention; the result is what must be reviewed.

What to avoid
The word free should describe the actual offer. Do not expect generated moving clips, unlimited retries or a paid film to be included simply because connecting costs nothing.
