A practical method
- Time a natural reading of the approved narration.
- Mark pauses required for the viewer to inspect an image.
- Cut low-priority words before asking for a faster delivery.
An example brief to adapt
Review this script for a 45-second film. Identify lines that compete with important visual moments. Suggest a shorter version that leaves space after the opening question and before the ending. Do not claim an exact final duration until the rendered audio is checked.
Review before moving on
- Does the delivery sound rushed?
- Are pauses included in the estimate?
- Is the closing sentence complete?
Record a concrete observation beside each check: a line in the treatment, a source passage or a timestamp in the downloaded film. If you cannot inspect an item yet, leave it open. A request in a brief is an intention; the result is what must be reviewed.

What to avoid
A script that barely fits your own fastest reading leaves little room for a different voice. Reduce information density rather than treating faster speech as the default fix.
